Description

The Fermion: SHT40 Temperature & Humidity Sensor is a high-precision digital sensing breakout powered by Sensirion's 4th-generation sensor chip. Ideal for makers, STEM students, and IoT developers, it delivers accurate environmental readings over standard I2C for smart home, weather monitoring, and agriculture projects.

High accuracy environmental sensing

The sensor measures relative humidity from 0 to 100% RH with a typical accuracy of ±1.8% RH, and temperatures from -40°C to 125°C with an accuracy of ±0.2°C. An integrated variable power heater allows reliable operation even in challenging, condensing environments.

Compact board layout

Measuring just 14x17mm, this compact breakout easily integrates into space-constrained projects and wearable builds. It features standard 2mm (M2) mounting holes with a 10mm pitch for secure mechanical installation.

Simple I2C microcontroller wiring

The module communicates via an I2C digital interface and supports a flexible operating voltage range of 3.3V to 5V. This ensures seamless plug-and-play compatibility with a wide variety of popular development boards and microcontrollers.

Ultra-low power consumption

With an active operating current of 0.45mA and a low-power mode drawing below 0.15mA, the SHT40 is exceptionally energy efficient. This makes it a practical choice for long-term wireless sensor nodes and battery-powered logging setups.

With an 8-second response time, the sensor is well suited for ambient climate tracking across diverse settings. Typical use cases include automated weather stations, warehouse monitoring, plant germination boxes, and animal incubators.
