Description

The Fermion SGP40 VOC Air Quality Sensor is a compact breakout board designed for real-time indoor air quality monitoring. It delivers a direct 0-500 VOC index without complex calibration, making it an excellent choice for makers, students, and engineers building smart ventilation or environmental sensing systems.

Direct VOC index output

Powered by Sensirion CMOSens technology, the sensor processes 1 to 1000ppm ethanol equivalent concentrations into a standardized 0 to 500 air quality index. The integrated algorithm operates automatically, eliminating the need for manual user calibration.

Fast response and low power consumption

The module features a rapid 2-second response time with a brief 10-second warm-up period to reach operational readiness. Consuming just 2.6mA from a 3.3V to 5V DC supply, it is well suited for continuous IoT monitoring and battery-conscious builds.

Built-in environmental compensation

The sensor maintains plus-minus 15 percent accuracy across an operating temperature range of -10°C to 50°C. Automatic humidity compensation handles 0 to 90 percent relative humidity, ensuring reliable readings in varying indoor environments.

Easy microcontroller and IoT integration

Communicating over standard I2C at address 0x59, the breakout is plug-and-play compatible with Arduino and Raspberry Pi. It provides official C and Python library support and integrates smoothly into Home Assistant and MQTT networks.
