Fermion: PAM8403 3W Mini Audio Stereo Amplifier - W2.54 (Breakout)

The Fermion PAM8403 is a compact 3W dual-channel Class D audio amplifier breakout board designed for clear stereo sound output. Operating from a 3.3V to 5.5V supply with over 90% efficiency, it is ideal for students, hobbyists, and makers building robot voice systems, DIY music boxes, and custom sound modifications.

High-efficiency stereo output

The module delivers up to 3W into 4-ohm loads at 5V across independent left and right channels for stereo surround sound. Its Class D architecture provides greater than 90% power efficiency for minimal heat generation.

Hardware sleep mode control

The onboard SHDN pin enables low-power standby mode by closing the bias circuit when driven low to 0V. Driving the pin high to 5V or leaving it unconnected keeps the amplifier in standard working mode by default.

Compact breakout dimensions

Measuring just 18x20mm with a standard 2.54mm pin pitch, the board easily embeds into space-constrained projects. It can directly drive compatible enclosed stereo speakers without requiring software programming.

Wiring and connection guidelines

The module requires a DC 3.3V to 5.5V supply and will suffer damage if voltage exceeds 5.5V or if power polarity is reversed. The negative terminals for the audio channels are independent and must not be wired together.
