Description
The Fermion Monochrome 0.96-inch OLED Display Breakout provides a crisp 128x64 white pixel visual interface powered by the SSD1306 driver. With dual interface support and low power consumption, it is well suited for makers and students building wearable electronics, compact game consoles, and desktop sensor displays.
High-contrast self-illuminating display
The screen features 128x64 self-illuminating white pixels with a typical brightness of 180 cd/m2, capable of showing four rows of 16-pixel characters. Its active viewing area measures 21.744 x 10.864 mm within a compact 30 x 30 mm breakout footprint.

Dual I2C and SPI communication
Configured for I2C by default at address 0x3C to keep wiring simple, the module can also be converted to high-speed SPI mode by altering a resistor position on the board. This allows users to choose between minimal pin usage or faster refresh rates.
Wide controller voltage compatibility
Operating across 3.3V and 5V logic and power levels, the board interfaces seamlessly with controllers including Arduino UNO, Leonardo, ESP32, ESP8266, and FireBeetle-M0. An internal power-on reset circuit ensures reliable startup without extra external circuitry.
Protective metal frame packaging
The breakout features an integrated protective frame that shields the glass screen against accidental impact and mechanical stress. The enclosure also protects fingers by covering sharp glass edges during handling and installation.
Efficient low-power operation
Power draw is approximately 24mA to 27mA during full-screen illumination and drops to around 2mA to 2.87mA when the screen is powered down. Turning off inactive pixels helps maintain long-term brightness uniformity across the OLED panel.
