Description
The Fermion MEMS Odor Smell Gas Detection Sensor is an ultra-compact electronic nose breakout board designed for qualitative odor monitoring. Operating on 3.3V to 5V with an analog voltage output, it detects gases such as hydrogen sulphide, ethanol, and acetone across a 0.5 to 50 ppm range. It is ideal for students, makers, and educators building breath analysers, food spoilage testers, and air quality projects.
Advanced MEMS sensor architecture
Built with microelectromechanical systems technology, this 13 x 13 x 2.5 mm module delivers rapid response and recovery times with minimal heat generation. It draws less than 20 mA of operating current, making it well suited to low-power and portable microcontroller builds.
Qualitative gas concentration sensing
The sensor detects target gases including H2S, EtOH, and acetone across an effective range of 0.5 to 50 ppm. It outputs an analog voltage signal with a sensitivity ratio of R0 in air to Rs in 5 ppm H2S of at least 2.
Simple microcontroller wiring
Operating over a wide 3.3V to 5V supply range, the breakout interfaces directly with standard microcontrollers such as the Arduino Uno. Each module includes a 2.54 mm pitch pin header for straightforward soldering and breadboard prototyping.

Versatile e-nose applications
This qualitative sensor is suited for detecting food freshness and spoilage by monitoring emitted odor compounds. It can also be deployed in breath analysis devices, body odor hygiene experiments, and cabin gas monitoring setups.
Handling guidelines and preheating
Remove the protective film prior to use and protect the sensor from volatile silicone vapours, corrosive gases, and water condensation. If the module has been stored without power for an extended duration, preheat it for at least 24 hours before taking measurements.
