Description

The Fermion: MEMS Hydrogen H2 Gas Detection Sensor is an ultra-compact breakout board designed for qualitative detection of hydrogen gas concentrations between 0.1 and 1000ppm. Operating on 3.3V to 5V with an analog voltage output, it is an ideal sensing solution for makers, students, and educators building ambient air monitors and leak alarm systems.

Advanced MEMS sensing technology

Utilising micro-electromechanical system technology, this sensor provides high sensitivity to hydrogen gas alongside fast response and recovery cycles. It operates with minimal heat generation, a short preheating time, and low power consumption of under 20mA.

Micro-sized analog breakout

Measuring only 13 x 13 x 2.5mm, the board delivers an analog voltage output compatible with 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers like the Arduino Uno. This compact form factor allows straightforward integration into space-constrained projects and multi-sensor arrays.

Qualitative gas monitoring applications

The module covers a 0.1 to 1000ppm detection range with a sensitivity ratio of R0 in air to Rs in 200ppm H2 of at least 5. It is suited to qualitative applications such as industrial safety leak alarms, ambient air quality monitoring, and fuel cell emission testing.

Handling and operating precautions

Remove the protective film before use and avoid contact with volatile silicon vapors, corrosive gases, alkalis, moisture, or extreme mechanical shock. For modules left unpowered for extended periods, preheat the sensor for at least 24 hours prior to use.

Included package contents

Each pack contains one Fermion MEMS H2 sensor breakout board and one 2.54mm pitch pin header for breadboard prototyping or custom PCB soldering.
