Fermion: MEMS Carbon Monoxide CO Gas Detection Sensor (Breakout, 5-5000ppm)

The Fermion MEMS Carbon Monoxide Sensor is an ultra-compact qualitative gas detection breakout board designed for microcontrollers like Arduino. Operating from 3.3V to 5V with a low current draw under 20 mA, it detects CO concentrations between 5 and 5000 ppm. It is ideal for students, hobbyists, and makers building portable environmental monitors and gas leak alarms.

Compact low-power MEMS design

Utilising micro-electromechanical system technology, the sensor measures just 13 x 13 x 2.5 mm and draws less than 20 mA. This architecture minimises heat generation, enables a short preheating cycle, and delivers swift response and recovery times.

Qualitative CO detection range

The module detects carbon monoxide gas concentrations between 5 and 5000 ppm and outputs an analog voltage signal. It is intended for qualitative measurement in alert indicators and portable detectors, rather than life-critical quantitative safety systems.

Simple microcontroller integration

With an operating voltage of 3.3V to 5V, the sensor connects directly to development platforms like the Arduino UNO via standard analog inputs. The package includes a 2.54 mm pitch header pin for convenient breadboarding and prototyping.

Handling and operating precautions

Always remove the protective film before operation and protect the element from silicone vapours, corrosive gases, water, and mechanical shock. When using the module after extended periods of inactivity, preheat it for at least 24 hours prior to taking readings.
