Description

The Fermion MAX30102 PPG Heart Rate and Oximeter Sensor V2.0 is an optical biometric breakout module featuring an integrated microcontroller with embedded algorithms. It directly outputs calculated pulse and blood oxygen (SpO2) data over I2C or UART, making it ideal for students, makers, and developers building wearable fitness and health-monitoring prototypes.

Onboard PPG algorithm processing

The module pairs a Maxim MAX30102 optical sensor with an internal microcontroller that processes raw photoplethysmography signals directly on the board. This onboard computation delivers ready-to-use heart rate and SpO2 readings without burdening your main controller with intensive mathematical filtering.

Dual I2C and UART interfaces

Offering both I2C (address 0x57) and UART communication modes, this sensor integrates easily with standard development boards such as Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi. The flexible serial interfaces simplify wiring and firmware design in wearable or IoT projects.

Real-time PC data visualisation

The sensor supports upper-computer software for live data visualisation on a PC over serial. This allows developers to observe biometric metrics in real time during testing, sensor calibration, and long-term data collection experiments.

Operating at 3.3V with a low current draw of under 15mA, this compact 18 x 22mm board is suited for battery-powered health devices. It functions across an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.

Included pin header hardware

The package includes one Fermion MAX30102 V2.0 sensor module alongside a 6-pin 2.54mm single-row male header for easy breadboarding and soldering.
