Fermion: LTC4316 I2C Address Shifter Module

The Fermion: LTC4316 I2C Address Shifter Module is a compact hardware solution designed to resolve address conflicts when using multiple identical I2C sensors on a single bus. It translates sensor addresses directly in hardware without requiring software modifications or multiplexer management. This module is ideal for makers, students, and engineers building multi-sensor robotics and embedded sensor networks.

Hardware translation without code changes

The module sits between your development board and an I2C sensor to shift the device address directly in hardware. This allows multiple identical-address devices to share one bus seamlessly without software overhead or multiplexer timing bugs.

Flexible switch and resistor configuration

Onboard DIP switches allow you to quickly select from four alternative I2C addresses. Soldering optional resistors onto the board further extends the address pool by at least twenty additional options.

Direct microcontroller integration

Wiring the module between a development board such as an Arduino UNO and your sensor requires no extra driver libraries. The plug-and-play hardware interface translates addresses immediately upon connection.

Broad voltage support and compact footprint

Operating from 2.25V to 5.5V DC with a low 2mA current draw at 3.3V, the module easily adapts to 3.3V and 5V logic systems. The compact 19 x 19mm board operates reliably within a 0 to 70 degrees Celsius temperature range.
