Description

The Fermion LIS2DW12 is an ultra-low-power, high-performance three-axis linear accelerometer breakout featuring 16-bit data resolution and user-selectable measurement ranges up to ±16g. Ideal for students, makers, and engineers, it delivers reliable motion tracking with minimal energy consumption. It is well suited to battery-powered IoT devices, wearables, and robotics projects.

Ultra-low power and low noise

Operating at 3.3V, the sensor draws just 50nA in low-power mode and 0.17mA in high-performance mode, with an ultra-low noise floor of 1.3 mg RMS. An integrated 32-level FIFO buffer stores acceleration samples internally to reduce processor workload and extend battery life.

Ultra-low power and low noise

Selectable scales and wide bandwidth

The module provides 16-bit data output across user-configurable full-scale ranges of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, and ±16g. Sampling rates and bandwidth can be adjusted from 1.6Hz up to 1600Hz to match standard monitoring or high-speed motion tracking needs.

Dedicated hardware motion detection engine

An onboard processing engine executes motion-sensing algorithms directly on the chip without taxing your main microcontroller. It handles free-fall detection, 6D/4D spatial orientation, portrait/landscape orientation, single/double-tap recognition, and activity/inactivity wake-up.

Flexible I2C and SPI interfacing

Communication is supported via standard I2C and SPI interfaces, featuring two independent programmable interrupt pins for real-time alerting. The default I2C address is 0x19, which can be switched to 0x18 by pulling down the SDO pin.

Robust build for compact systems

With a compact 15 x 20 mm footprint and 10,000g shock survivability, the board is engineered to endure demanding physical environments from -40°C to +85°C. It is supplied with two 2.54mm 4-pin headers for rapid breadboarding into self-balancing robots and wearable prototypes.
