Description

The Fermion MEMS Formaldehyde Sensor is a miniature breakout board engineered to detect 0 to 3ppm concentrations of formaldehyde (HCHO) gas. Operating on 3.3V to 5V with an analog voltage output, it is an excellent choice for makers, students, and engineers building indoor air quality monitors, HVAC controllers, or wearable detection devices.

High sensitivity MEMS detection

Using advanced MEMS technology, the sensor detects 0 to 3ppm formaldehyde concentrations with rapid response and recovery times. It delivers an analog voltage output with a sensitivity ratio of R0 in air to Rs in 0.4ppm HCHO greater than or equal to 1.8.

Low power consumption

Drawing less than 20mA of operating current, this module is well suited for battery-powered portable detectors and continuous IoT air quality logging.

Compact breakout form factor

Measuring only 13 x 13 x 2.5mm, the module integrates smoothly into space-constrained enclosures, smart wearables, and microcontrollers like Arduino and Raspberry Pi.

Durable operating lifespan

The sensor provides a lifespan of at least 3 years in air and operates reliably across temperatures from -10°C to 50°C in non-condensing humidity levels between 15% and 90% RH.

Operating precautions and handling

Peel off the protective film before use, and preheat the module for 24 hours if it has been stored unused for extended periods. Avoid exposure to volatile silicone vapours, corrosive gases, halogens, excessive vibration, or moisture, and do not use in safety-critical personal protection systems.
