The Fermion ENS160 Smart Air Quality Sensor is a compact breakout board engineered for comprehensive indoor air quality monitoring. It delivers real-time data for TVOC, equivalent CO2, and standard US EPA Air Quality Index ratings, making it well-suited for makers, educators, and engineers building automated smart home and ventilation systems.

Multi-parameter IAQ analysis

The onboard ENS160 sensor tracks volatile organic compounds from 0 to 65,000 ppb, equivalent CO2 from 400 to 65,000 ppm, and 1 to 5 AQI ratings using pre-loaded US EPA algorithms. Automatic temperature and humidity compensation helps maintain reliable data integrity across changing indoor conditions.

Rapid warm-up and self-calibration

TrueVOC technology brings the sensor to full operational readiness within three minutes, reaching stable measurement accuracy quickly. An integrated automatic baseline correction algorithm maintains +/-15% measurement accuracy over years of continuous deployment without requiring manual recalibration.

Versatile digital interfaces

The breakout board communicates via I2C (addresses 0x52 and 0x53) or SPI, operating on 3.3V DC with a response time under one minute. It integrates directly with Arduino, ESP32, FireBeetle, and Raspberry Pi platforms, with sample code available for Home Assistant and MQTT systems.

Compact format for smart automation

With a footprint of only 20 x 15 mm, the module embeds into space-constrained enclosures for whole-house ventilation, office monitoring, smart thermostats, and automated kitchen range hoods. It operates across an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and 5% to 95% relative humidity.

Included breakout hardware

The kit includes one Fermion ENS160 sensor board alongside one 4-pin and one 7-pin standard 2.54 mm black single-row header connector for direct breadboard prototyping and custom PCB integration.
