Description

The Fermion 10DOF IMU sensor combines a Bosch BMI323 6-axis motion sensor, BMM350 3-axis magnetometer, and BMP581 barometric pressure sensor on a single 24 × 19 mm breakout board. Designed for embedded robotics, wearable elevation tracking, and navigation prototyping, it provides direct I2C access to individual sensor configurations and raw data. It is an ideal platform for students, makers, and engineers developing custom sensor-fusion and motion-tracking algorithms.

Comprehensive 10DOF multi-sensor integration

This breakout combines acceleration, angular velocity, magnetic heading, and barometric pressure sensing on one compact module. It gives developers low-level configuration control over each individual Bosch sensor across a shared I2C interface.

Comprehensive 10DOF multi-sensor integration

High-rate BMI323 inertial tracking

The BMI323 delivers 16-bit acceleration measurements up to ±16 g and angular velocity measurements up to ±2000 °/s at output rates up to 6400 Hz. A 2 KB FIFO buffer and integrated hardware algorithms support autonomous step counting, tap detection, tilt sensing, free-fall tracking, and activity recognition.

High-rate BMI323 inertial tracking

Precision magnetic and pressure sensing

The BMM350 magnetometer uses 3rd-generation TMR technology across a ±2000 µT range with 0.1 µT resolution for stable compass calculations. For vertical motion, the BMP581 sensor measures barometric pressure from 30 to 125 kPa with 0.0156 Pa resolution and typical ±6 Pa relative accuracy.

Precision magnetic and pressure sensing

Compact layout with low-power operation

Occupying only 24 × 19 mm, the board runs on 3.3 V and consumes 1.12 mA in standard operation and 0.37 mA in Low Power mode. Each sensor includes two selectable I2C addresses alongside four programmable interrupt pins for efficient, event-driven embedded designs.

Compact layout with low-power operation

Flexible wiring and controller compatibility

Connections are supported via both an onboard SH1.0-5P connector and standard 2.54 mm pin header holes. Supported by Arduino and Python libraries, it interfaces seamlessly with mainstream controllers including ESP32, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi boards.
