Description
The Fermion BMP585 is an ultra-compact, industrial-grade barometric pressure and temperature sensor module powered by the Bosch BMP585 MEMS chip. Built with a protective gel-filled cavity, ±0.3 hPa absolute accuracy, and ultra-low power consumption, it is well suited for makers and engineers developing micro-drones, wearable devices, and outdoor IoT stations.
Gel-filled environmental protection
A specialised gel-filled cavity protects the internal MEMS sensing element from water intrusion, high humidity, and chemical corrosion without distorting pressure transmission. This robust design ensures reliable operation in demanding environments such as marine deployments, sewer monitoring, and outdoor weather stations.

High precision and low noise
The module delivers an absolute pressure accuracy of ±0.3 hPa and relative altitude accuracy of ±0.5 m, backed by an ultra-low noise floor below 0.1 Pa. This high fidelity enables reliable vertical velocity tracking for drone altitude hold and precise floor-level detection for indoor navigation.
On-chip hardware filtering
Integrated hardware FIFO buffering and a configurable IIR filter smooth out pressure fluctuations caused by wind gusts and mechanical vibrations directly on the chip. This cleans the output signal before transmission, freeing up microcontroller processing power for navigation and wireless tasks.
Versatile digital interfaces and low power
The sensor supports legacy I2C and SPI communication alongside high-throughput I3C protocols, with driver libraries provided for Arduino and Python. It draws only 200μA during active measurement and drops to a 2μA sleep current, making it ideal for battery-operated deployments.
Compact form factor and specifications
Measuring just 19×16×3.55 mm with a standard 2.54 mm pin header, the board integrates easily into tight enclosures. It operates at 3.3V DC across a pressure measurement range of 30 to 125 kPa and a temperature range of 0 to 65 °C.
