Description

The Fermion: BME688 AI Environmental Sensor is a compact MEMS module that integrates temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and volatile organic compound detection. Designed for makers, students, and engineers, it suits smart home monitoring, IoT weather stations, and AI-driven environmental research.

Four-in-one environmental sensing

The module captures ambient temperature from -40 to +85°C, relative humidity from 0 to 100%, and barometric pressure from 300 to 1100 hPa. It delivers precise readings with ±0.5°C temperature accuracy, ±3% relative humidity accuracy, and ±0.6 hPa barometric pressure accuracy.

AI-driven gas analysis and profiling

The sensor supports advanced gas detection via Bosch BME AI-Studio and the BSEC2-Arduino library, enabling users to train custom models for specific gas signatures. This makes it suitable for automated air quality systems, gas leak detection, and environmental research projects.

Stable volatile organic compound detection

The sensor monitors indoor air quality by detecting harmful VOCs in real time. An integrated heating layer minimizes ambient interference to maintain consistent and accurate measurements.

Broad microcontroller interface support

Communication is handled through standard I2C and SPI protocols for easy integration with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and ESP8266 platforms. The module operates at 3.3V to 5V DC, with SPI mode dedicated to 3.3V operation.

Compact dimensions and power requirements

Measuring 18 by 15.6 mm, the board draws 5mA during standard operation and 25mA when VOC measurement is active. Its small footprint allows for clean integration into portable and space-constrained IoT hardware.

The package includes one Fermion BME688 environmental sensor module and one XH2.54 10-pin header for breadboard prototyping.
