Description
The Fermion: BH1750 Light Sensor Breakout is an ambient light intensity sensor featuring an integrated 16-bit AD converter that outputs digital readings directly in Lux. It provides an accurate, easy-to-use alternative to standard photoresistors for students, hobbyists, and makers developing automated lighting and environmental monitoring projects.
Direct digital Lux output
Equipped with an onboard 16-bit AD converter, the board outputs light intensity directly in Lux without requiring complex mathematical conversions. This allows microcontrollers to read precise illumination values immediately.
Upgraded precision over photoresistors
Unlike basic photoresistors that only produce a variable voltage requiring manual calibration, this sensor delivers direct, meaningful illuminance data. It simplifies sensor reading while providing far greater accuracy across different environments.
Wide environmental detection range
The sensor captures lighting conditions ranging from faint moonlight at 0.02 to 0.3 Lux up to intense summer afternoon sunlight. It also reliably measures standard indoor thresholds, such as 50 to 60 Lux for reading environments and 1400 Lux for video illumination.
Included package contents
The package includes one BH1750 Light Sensor breakout board and one 5-pin male header for quick integration into breadboards and prototyping setups.
