Fermion: AS7341 11-Channel Visible Light Sensor (Breakout)

The Fermion AS7341 11-Channel Visible Light Sensor is a spectral breakout board capable of precise colour identification and light analysis. Utilising the advanced AMS AS7341 sensor IC, it accurately measures eight visible spectrum bands alongside clear, near-infrared, and flicker detection channels. It is well suited for students, hobbyists, and researchers developing spectrophotometers, smart lighting systems, or plant growth monitors.

Multi-channel spectral identification

The sensor incorporates eight dedicated visible light channels covering wavelengths from 405 nm to 690 nm, plus clear and near-infrared channels. This allows it to distinguish true spectral colours from mixed RGB light that standard colour sensors cannot resolve.

Parallel processing and flicker detection

Six independent 16-bit ADC channels process spectral data concurrently for rapid conversion. A dedicated ambient light flicker detection channel also tracks 50 Hz and 60 Hz frequencies.

Built-in target illumination

Two onboard extra-bright LEDs provide reliable auxiliary lighting for testing in dark conditions. The LED driver current can be configured across 20 distinct levels from 4 mA to 42 mA.

Flexible supply and compact footprint

Operating across a 3.3V to 5V supply range, the module communicates using a standard I2C interface at address 0x39. Its ultra-compact 18 mm by 14 mm form factor fits easily into space-constrained assemblies.
