Description
This industrial-grade RS485 chlorophyll sensor utilises optical fluorescence to measure algae concentrations in rivers, lakes, and aquaculture systems. Ready to deploy out of the box, it is ideal for environmental researchers, water authorities, and STEM educators building automated water quality monitoring stations.
Fluorescence-based optical measurement
The sensor uses a fibre optic transmission design and internal filtering algorithms to measure chlorophyll from 0 to 400 μg/L with ±5% FS accuracy. This optical method provides strong resistance against ambient light interference while outputting relative fluorescence intensity.

Standard ModBus-RTU over RS485
An RS485 communication interface allows seamless integration with Arduino development boards, DFRobot LoRaWAN nodes, and third-party data loggers. The unit operates from a wide 10V to 30V DC supply with an energy-efficient 0.4W power consumption.

Factory calibrated and IP68 submersible
Each probe is calibrated at the factory and requires no setup calibration before field deployment. The integrated corrosion-resistant housing is rated IP68 with 0.6 MPa pressure resistance for continuous underwater operation, supported by an included 5-metre cable.

Automatic temperature compensation
An integrated temperature sensor delivers automatic compensation across a 0°C to 60°C range to maintain stable readings through fluctuating weather conditions. The sensor achieves a fast response time of 30 seconds or less.
Versatile field monitoring applications
The probe is suitable for early warning detection of cyanobacteria blooms, overnight dissolved oxygen risk management in aquaculture, and multi-site river health studies. Its plug-and-read design lets students and researchers collect reliable field data without lengthy instrument setup.
