Description
The ESP32-S3 AI Camera Module is a compact edge computing development board equipped with an OV3660 2MP wide-angle sensor, infrared night vision, and onboard audio. Powered by the ESP32-S3R8 chip with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5, it is designed for students, makers, and developers building intelligent vision systems and voice-enabled IoT devices.
Edge AI and computer vision
The board leverages the neural processing capabilities of the ESP32-S3 processor and 16MB flash to run local edge models using Edge Impulse, OpenCV, and YOLOv5. It supports on-device object detection and image classification, as well as cloud-based model integration with ChatGPT for expanded analytical tasks.

Onboard voice and audio interaction
An integrated I2S PDM microphone and MAX98357 audio amplifier paired with the included speaker enable automatic speech recognition and real-time audio playback. This hardware configuration allows developers to build interactive voice assistants, acoustic alert triggers, and hands-free control systems.

Wide-angle infrared night vision
The module features an OV3660 camera offering a 160-degree field of view with 940nm infrared sensitivity, supported by onboard IR illumination LEDs and an LTR-308 ambient light sensor. This enables clear capture in complete darkness, making it suitable for smart doorbells, baby monitors, and round-the-clock security systems.

Wireless streaming and connectivity
With built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 LE, the module provides flexible remote data transmission and live video streaming to local dashboards or mobile devices. This allows seamless integration into broader smart home setups and remote monitoring networks.

Compact layout and hardware interfaces
Measuring 42 by 42 mm, the board incorporates a microSD card slot, a USB Type-C programming port, and a Gravity 4-pin interface for easy system expansion. It supports flexible powering via 5V USB Type-C or an external 3.7V to 15V DC input.
