EL Wire - Red

This red electroluminescent (EL) wire is a flexible 3mm lighting strand that produces a continuous 360-degree neon-like glow under AC excitation. It provides smooth, hotspot-free illumination with low power consumption, making it ideal for makers, cosplayers, and educators building wearables, illuminated signage, or custom electronics projects.

Uniform 360-degree red glow

The phosphor-coated copper core delivers continuous, hotspot-free red light across the entire strand. Operating between 200Hz and 2000Hz at 120V, it achieves a glow brightness of 30cd/m² to 126cd/m² for clean edge highlights and signage.

Flexible 3mm protective construction

Encased in protective PVC tubing, the 3mm diameter strand bends and routes easily through tight corners, intricate shapes, and contours. The durable outer sheath protects internal conductors during installation on garments, vehicles, or architectural models.

Efficient AC electrical characteristics

The wire supports an AC operating voltage range of 20V to 220V, with an optimum supply of 120V and a recommended frequency between 1500Hz and 2000Hz. Power draw remains low, consuming between 108mW/m and 1032mW/m under typical 120V drive conditions.

Durable design for creative projects

Rated for operating temperatures from -10°C to +60°C, the strand delivers an operational lifespan of approximately 5000 hours at 100V and 400Hz. It integrates reliably into stage sets, safety guidance outlines, vehicle interiors, and craft installations.
