Description
The DFRobot Beetle BLE is an ultra-compact development board based on the Arduino Uno, integrated with Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy. Measuring just 28.8mm by 33.1mm, it is designed for students, makers, and hobbyists creating wearable technology, smart clothing, and miniature DIY prototypes. It allows for quick programming and control via standard micro USB or wirelessly using the Arduino IDE.
Arduino Uno core in miniature
Powered by an ATmega328 microcontroller clocked at 16 MHz, the board provides full Arduino Uno functionality in an ultra-small form factor. It operates at 5V DC with support for input voltages under 8V via Vin, and weighs only 10 grams.
Integrated Bluetooth 4.0 wireless communication
Equipped with a CC2540 BLE chip featuring -93dBm sensitivity, the board achieves a wireless transmission range of up to 50 metres in open field conditions. It supports Bluetooth HID and iBeacon modes, while maintaining full compatibility with DFRobot Bluno series commands and protocols.
Wireless updates and mobile control
The board supports both wired micro USB programming and remote wireless sketch uploading via the Arduino IDE. Makers can also pair it with the Play Bluno mobile app on iOS and Android for real-time remote control and program updates without dedicated drivers.
Sewable gilded connection pads
Designed for wearable applications such as smart bracelets and e-textiles, the board includes V-shaped gold-plated I/O interfaces. These pads facilitate direct sewing or screw-type conductor wire attachments for secure, solder-free wiring.
Versatile I/O and sensor expansion
The board breaks out 4 digital pins, 4 analogue pins, 2 PWM outputs, UART, and I2C interfaces. For rapid prototyping, it can be paired with the optional Beetle BLE Expansion Board to connect standard DFRobot 3-pin sensors directly.
