DFRduino UNO R3 - Compatible with Arduino Uno

The DFRduino UNO R3 is a physical computing microcontroller board fully compatible with the Arduino Uno R3 and the open-source Arduino IDE. Powered by an ATmega328 processor, it is well suited for students, educators, and makers building interactive electronics and robotics projects.

Full Arduino R3 compatibility

The board runs on an ATmega328 microcontroller clocked at 16 MHz with an ATmega16U2 chip handling USB-to-serial communication. It works seamlessly with the Arduino IDE on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, supporting standard Processing and Wiring code.

Colour-coded interface headers

Header pins are colour-coded to match standard sensor cables, using red for power, blue for analogue I/O, and green for digital I/O. This visual layout helps prevent wiring errors and speeds up classroom and workshop prototyping.

Removable DIP package chip

Unlike surface-mount alternatives, the primary ATmega328 microcontroller is seated in a replaceable DIP socket. This design allows users to swap the chip, update firmware externally, or transfer the programmed chip directly into custom standalone builds.

Standard I/O and shield support

The board features 14 digital I/O pins with 6 PWM outputs, 6 analogue inputs, and dedicated SDA and SCL pins. It also includes an IOREF pin near the reset button, allowing attached shields to adapt correctly to 5V or 3.3V operating voltages.

Flexible power and memory specifications

The unit operates at 5V and can be powered directly via USB or an external 7V to 12V DC input. It includes 32 KB of flash memory, 2 KB of SRAM, and 1 KB of EEPROM, measuring 75 x 54 x 15 mm in a RoHS-compliant footprint.
