Description
The DFRduino Mega1280 is an Arduino Mega-compatible development board powered by the ATmega1280 microcontroller. Designed with generous input, output, and hardware serial capabilities, it is ideally suited for students, makers, and hobbyists building multi-sensor robotics and control systems. It provides a cost-effective alternative for projects requiring more pins and memory than a standard microcontroller board.
Extensive digital and analogue IO
The board features 54 digital input/output pins, including 14 capable of PWM output, alongside 16 analogue inputs. This extensive pin count provides ample connectivity for driving multiple motors, servos, displays, and sensor arrays simultaneously.
ATmega1280 processing and memory
Powered by a 16 MHz ATmega1280 microcontroller, the board provides 128 KB of flash memory, 8 KB of SRAM, and 4 KB of EEPROM. This offers sufficient storage and memory to serve as a reliable substitute for the Mega2560 in intermediate and lightweight projects.
Multiple hardware serial ports
Equipped with 4 independent hardware UARTs, the board handles concurrent serial communication effortlessly. This allows straightforward interfacing with multiple peripherals such as GPS receivers, wireless modules, and secondary microcontrollers.
Direct USB programming
An integrated bootloader allows programs to be downloaded directly over a standard USB cable connection. There is no need for external burner hardware or specialised programmer tools to upload your sketches.
Versatile power supply options
Operating at a standard 5V, the board accepts external input voltages from 3V to 16V, with a maximum limit of 20V. It can be powered via USB, an AC-to-DC power adapter, or an external battery pack.
Package contents
The package includes one DFRduino Mega1280 development board ready for connection and deployment.
