Description

This circular flexible thin film pressure sensor features an 18.3mm diameter active area and a wide 20g to 6kg measurement range in an ultra-thin 0.4mm profile. It is well suited for students, hobbyists, and engineers designing touch-sensitive interfaces, robotics grippers, and wearable projects.

Layered piezoresistive construction

The sensor is constructed from an ultra-thin film with conductive circuitry on the lower layer and a nanometre pressure-sensitive layer on the upper layer, bonded with double-sided tape. Applying force brings the layers into contact, decreasing output resistance as the applied pressure increases.

Measuring only 0.4mm thick with an 18.3mm outer diameter, this short-leg flexible sensor integrates smoothly into tight spaces. The low-profile mechanical format allows easy mounting on flat or curved surfaces without adding bulk.

Fast response and long lifespan

The sensor achieves high-speed force detection with a response time under 10ms. Built for durable operation, it offers a mechanical lifespan exceeding 1 million cycles alongside an initial resistance greater than 10M ohms.

Static and dynamic force sensing

Capable of measuring both static and dynamic pressure at frequencies up to 10Hz, the sensor activates with as little as 20g of trigger force. It reliably tracks force intensity across its full 20g to 6kg measuring span.

Broad operating temperature range

Engineered to operate reliably in harsh conditions, the sensor functions across a temperature range of -40 degrees Celsius to +85 degrees Celsius. It generates no electromagnetic interference (EMI) or electrostatic discharge (ESD).

Versatile project applications

Its ability to record both the frequency and intensity of force makes it ideal for robotic fingertips, intelligent footwear, bed monitoring systems, smart switches, and wearable medical devices.
