Description
The Chroma Servo Board for Raspberry Pi is an expansion module designed to control up to eight RC servos or ESCs using simple ASCII commands over the serial port. Powered by an onboard ATmega8 microcontroller, it provides buffered 5V outputs while retaining a 2x13 pass-through header for additional hardware add-ons. It is an excellent choice for robotics enthusiasts, makers, and students building multi-servo projects on the Raspberry Pi.
Multi-channel servo control
The board drives up to eight RC servos or electronic speed controllers (ESCs) using serial ASCII commands communicated through the Raspberry Pi GPIO serial interface. An onboard buffer IC ensures all output signals are buffered and boosted to 5V for stable servo operation.
Pass-through connectivity
A top-mounted 2x13 pin header provides a direct pass-through for the Raspberry Pi GPIO port. This allows users to stack and connect other expansion cards and sensors without losing access to necessary pins.
Reprogrammable AVR microcontroller
The onboard ATmega8 MCU can be reprogrammed by AVR developers to perform custom tasks such as reading sensor arrays and streaming ASCII data over serial. An unmounted 8-pin connector breaks out six ATmega8 GPIO pins, supporting digital output as well as hardware I2C and SPI buses.
