Ambient Light Sensor (0-200klx)

The Ambient Light Sensor (0-200klx) is a high-precision optical sensing module designed to measure illumination across extreme brightness ranges. Housed in a light-gathering semispherical case, it is ideal for students, makers, and engineers building automated vehicle lighting, smart incubators, and indoor environment monitors.

Wide dynamic detection range

The sensor detects light levels ranging from 0 up to 200 klx with a high resolution of 0.054 lx. This wide span allows accurate monitoring from dark night conditions through to intense daytime sunlight.

Human eye spectral response

Its integrated photodiode spectral curve is tailored to mimic human visual perception. Built-in infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) blocking filters prevent non-visible light from distorting luminance readings.

Automatic adaptive gain control

An internal adaptive gain block automatically switches to the appropriate lux range based on ambient illumination. This dynamic switching ensures optimal counts-per-lux resolution across all lighting conditions.

Semispherical light-gathering housing

The module comes enclosed in a transparent hemispherical dome with a 28.5 mm outer shell diameter and an 18 mm dome height. This structure enhances optical capture across broad angles while shielding the internal electronics.

Flexible I2C interface and supply

The sensor communicates over a standard I2C bus and accepts an operating voltage range from 2.7 V to 6 V. With a low operating current of 7 mA, it easily integrates with standard microcontroller platforms.

Robust operating temperature range

Engineered to work reliably in challenging environments, the unit operates across a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. This makes it suitable for demanding outdoor, vehicle, and incubator deployments.
