5V Metal Proximity Switch

The 5V Metal Proximity Switch is a compact inductive sensor designed for precise non-contact metal detection. Combining the functionality of a travel switch and micro switch into a miniature form factor, it is ideally suited to students, makers, and automation builders. It operates on a 5V supply to integrate smoothly with standard microcontroller development boards.

Compact low-profile enclosure

Measuring just 27 x 10 x 6 mm, this switch fits easily into tight mechanical assemblies. It incorporates the operational characteristics of a travel switch, micro switch, and sensor into a single slim package.

High-speed inductive detection

The sensor detects metallic targets at distances up to 4 mm using an NPN normally open output. With a 1000 Hz switching frequency and a response time under 1 ms, it delivers rapid and stable signal triggering.

All-weather IP67 protection

Built with an IP67 rating, this sensor withstands harsh indoor and outdoor environments regardless of weather. It operates reliably across a broad temperature range spanning -20 °C to 65 °C.

Robotics and automation applications

Drawing 30 mA at 5V, the switch pairs easily with maker controller boards and industrial hardware. It is suitable for machinery automation, security systems, vehicle anti-theft devices, robot runway tracking, and speed detection.

Included connection cable

Each unit comes supplied with an attached cable measuring approximately 2 metres in length for straightforward installation.
