5V IR Photoelectric Switch (4m)

The 5V IR Photoelectric Switch is a compact break-beam sensor designed to detect non-transparent objects over distances of up to 4 metres. With a fast 0.5 ms response time and a standard 5V DC operating voltage, it integrates seamlessly with microcontrollers such as Arduino. It is ideal for students, educators, and makers building speed-timing systems or robotics competition projects.

Long-range thru-beam sensing

The sensor features a thru-beam configuration using an 830 nm straight-line infrared beam to detect non-transparent objects up to 4 metres away. The receiver has a narrow receiving angle of ±5 degrees to ensure reliable detection across the span.

Fast response for motion and timing

A fast 0.5 ms response time ensures immediate and stable signal triggering when the beam is broken. This high-speed performance makes it well suited for timing gates, speed detection, and motion sensing in robot competitions.

Compact form factor and temperature resilience

The module features a small footprint that can be conveniently installed inside tight spaces on chassis or project enclosures. It reliably operates in ambient temperatures between -10°C and 60°C.

Straightforward 5V wiring and identification

Operating at DC 5V with a 30 mA output current and 100 mW power output, the unit is colour-coded for easy identification. The transmitter uses a green PCB with red (5V), black (GND), and green (floating) wires, while the receiver uses a black PCB with red (5V), black (GND), and blue (signal out) wires.
