D2-1 Intelligent Line Tracking Car Robot Kit

The D2-1 Intelligent Tracking Car Kit is an analogue line-following robot chassis designed to trace contrast tracks on surfaces. Using dual photoresistors and an LM393 comparator circuit, it autonomously controls two DC motors without needing microcontrollers or code. It is an ideal hands-on project for students, makers, and STEM classrooms learning soldering and electronic circuit principles.

Analogue sensor navigation

The vehicle detects paths using two CDS5 photoresistors paired with forward-facing white LEDs to measure surface reflectivity. An onboard LM393 voltage comparator and S8550 transistors process the signals to adjust the DC drive motors automatically.

Hands-on assembly kit

Supplied as a full component pack, the kit features a dedicated 105 x 72 mm PCB, 40 mm wheels with tyres, dual DC motors, and a 2x AA battery holder. Building the chassis offers practical experience in component placement, through-hole soldering, and mechanical assembly.

Educational STEM application

By operating purely on discrete electronic components, the kit provides clear insight into comparator thresholding, transistor switching, and differential drive steering. It is ideally suited for electronics clubs, technical workshops, and beginner hobbyist projects.
