Board Rescue

Get your program back from a sheenbot that keeps restarting — without letting it run.

Use it when a board restarts again and again right after printing “[BOOT] Running sheen-main.py...” and the canvas can no longer connect to it.

Everything happens in this browser tab. No file leaves your computer.

Step 1 · Copy the files off the board

Plug the board in with a USB data cable and close any other tab or app using it (the sheen canvas, a serial monitor, Arduino IDE). The board is switched into download mode, so your program does not start while its files are copied.

Step 2 · Stop the program starting automatically (optional)

Renames sheen-main.py to sheen-main.py.disabled. Nothing is deleted. On the next start the board goes straight into upload mode, so you can connect from the canvas and upload a fixed program.

Save or copy sheen-main.py in Step 1 first — this step unlocks once you have it.

Keep this tab in front while the board restarts. A tab in the background is slowed down and cannot stop the program in time.

Download mode didn't work?

Copy the files through the board's serial console instead. The board starts its firmware, and this page stops it before your program runs.
