Description
The Ultimaker 1.5.7 controller board is a versatile mainboard designed to run RepRap 3D printers and DIY milling machines. Supporting operating voltages from 15V to 19V, it drives up to five stepper motors with enhanced torque and speed. It is an ideal platform for makers, hobbyists, and educators building or upgrading custom CNC and 3D printing equipment.
Multi-axis motion control
The board supports up to five stepper motors to manage X, Y, Z, extruder, and optional expansion axes using Pololu or UltiStepper driver carriers. Motors connect conveniently via 4-way JST connectors, with step sizes easily configurable using onboard jumpers.
High-power electrical design
Engineered to operate between 15V and 19V, this controller enables up to 90W output per MOSFET for improved motor performance. It features three 55A MOSFET outputs with LED status indicators, a master power toggle switch, and a dedicated 12V regulator for an always-on cooling fan.
Sensors and expansion interfaces
The controller provides three inputs for thermocouples or 100K thermistors alongside dedicated headers for an LCD panel, SD card module, and serial Bluetooth or Ethernet add-ons. It also includes PWM output for LED lighting and interrupt/software-driven servo outputs.
Application compatibility
Originally created for Ultimaker platforms, this board is also widely used in custom Mendel 3D printers and the Protospace Mantis-30 milling machine.
