Description
The TCS3200 Colour Recognition Sensor Module is a complete colour detector featuring the TAOS TCS3200 RGB sensor chip and integrated illumination. It accurately senses and measures a wide range of visible colours, converting light intensity directly into frequency. This module is ideal for students, hobbyists, and makers building automated sorting systems and interactive robotics projects.
Accurate colour detection
The module includes an array of photodetectors with dedicated red, green, blue, and clear filters distributed evenly to eliminate location bias. Four onboard white LEDs provide consistent illumination for precise target colour readings.
Direct frequency output
An internal oscillator produces a square-wave output with a frequency directly proportional to the chosen colour intensity. The programmable colour selection and full-scale output frequency allow easy interfacing directly with a microcontroller.
Standard pin breakout
All chip pins are broken out to standard 2.54 mm pitch headers for straightforward breadboard prototyping and wiring. The board operates reliably with an input voltage range of 3V to 5V.
Typical applications
This sensor is suited for colour sorting mechanisms, ambient light sensing and calibration, test strip reading, and general colour matching tasks.
