The Sentec WS303U is a solid-state ultrasonic wind speed and direction sensor designed for precision environmental monitoring. Utilizing ultrasonic phase difference measurements with no moving parts, it simultaneously captures wind speed and directional data. It is well suited for makers, educators, and hobbyists building robust automated weather stations and meteorological projects.

Solid-state ultrasonic measurement

The sensor calculates instantaneous wind speed and direction by measuring the phase difference of acoustic pulses. Because it operates without moving parts, it eliminates mechanical wear and provides reliable, low-maintenance measurement.

Analog output and integrated compass

Data for wind speed and direction is output via a 0 to 5 V DC analog interface for straightforward integration with data acquisition systems. The unit also features an integrated electronic compass to support directional orientation.

Rugged environmental design

Engineered for outdoor use, the sensor supports a wide 10 to 30 V DC power supply and features wind resistance up to 75 m/s. It delivers a fast 1-second response time and carries an IP57 environmental rating in its analog configuration.
