Description
The Raspberry Pi Pico W is a versatile microcontroller board powered by the dual-core RP2040 chip and equipped with integrated 2.4GHz wireless connectivity. Ideal for learners, educators, and hobbyists, it brings connected capabilities to physical computing and IoT projects. Its flexible hardware design supports both breadboard prototyping and surface-mount assembly.
Dual-core processing power
At the heart of the board is the RP2040 microcontroller, running a dual-core Arm Cortex M0+ processor at up to 133MHz. It includes 264kB of multi-bank SRAM, 2MB of onboard QSPI flash memory, and two programmable I/O (PIO) blocks capable of emulating custom high-speed interfaces.
Built-in 2.4GHz wireless
Wireless networking is enabled via an onboard Infineon CYW43439 interface supporting 802.11n, paired with an integrated ABRACON antenna. The wireless subsystem links directly to the RP2040 through SPI, making IoT connectivity straightforward.
Versatile I/O and form factor
The 40-pin 21mm by 51mm DIP-style board breaks out 26 multi-function 3.3V GPIO pins, including three analogue inputs, dual UART, dual I2C, dual SPI, and 16 PWM channels. Castellated edge connections allow the board to be used with standard 0.1-inch pin headers or soldered flat as an SMT module.
Power and debugging
Power and data are supplied via a micro USB B connector, with flexible circuitry supporting external supplies or battery power. An onboard 3-pin Arm serial wire debug (SWD) port provides dedicated debugging access.
