Description
This 100A non-invasive AC current sensor clamp allows you to measure alternating current safely without cutting into existing wiring. Utilizing a split-core transformer and a built-in burden resistor, it produces a proportional voltage signal readable by microcontrollers like Arduino. It is an ideal tool for makers, students, and educators building DIY home energy monitors or electrical monitoring projects.
Non-invasive current sensing
The split-core clamp design allows you to snap the sensor around an insulated AC wire without disconnecting or stripping live cables. It converts alternating currents between 0A and 100A into a safe, proportional voltage signal.
Microcontroller interfacing
Thanks to the internal sampling resistor, the sensor outputs a voltage directly via its standard 3.5mm audio-style connector. This enables simple analog measurement when paired with an Arduino or other development boards.
Common applications
It is well-suited for household energy monitoring, building automation, and supervising equipment such as AC motors, air compressors, and lighting installations.
Durable and safe construction
The sensor features a 13 x 13mm core opening, a 110cm cable, and a flame-retardant housing rated to UL94-V0. It provides a dielectric strength of 6000V AC per minute and endures at least 1000 opening and closing cycles.
