Description
The MQ-8 Hydrogen Gas Sensor Module is designed to detect ambient hydrogen concentrations ranging from 100 to 1000 ppm. Featuring both digital switching and analogue outputs, it integrates easily with microcontrollers, relay modules, and custom alarm circuits. It is well suited to students, makers, and hobbyists building safety monitors or environmental sensing projects.
Dual signal outputs
The module provides an analogue AO pin that outputs an increasing voltage up to approximately 4V as gas concentration rises. It also includes a digital DO pin that switches to an active low TTL signal when gas is detected, directly indicating trigger events.
Sensitive gas detection
Using a tin oxide sensing element, the board offers fast response and recovery times alongside reliable long-term stability. It provides high sensitivity to hydrogen and city gas while resisting interference from ethanol vapour, soot, and carbon monoxide.
Board layout and indicators
Constructed on a dual-panel PCB, the module includes on-board power and TTL output indicator LEDs for quick status checks. Four integrated positioning screw holes allow for secure mechanical installation inside enclosures.
Practical applications
This module is suitable for prototyping home safety alarms, industrial hydrogen leakage monitors, and educational science experiments.
