Description
The Atmel-ICE Basic Kit is a dedicated development tool designed for on-chip debugging and programming of Atmel SAM and AVR microcontrollers. Powered directly over USB with driver-free HID communication, it connects directly with Atmel Studio. It is an essential hardware tool for students, makers, and embedded electronics developers.
Comprehensive microcontroller support
The Atmel-ICE programmes and debugs Atmel SAM ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers via SWD and JTAG, AVR UC3 devices via JTAG and aWire, AVR XMEGA devices via JTAG and PDI 2-wire interfaces, supported tinyAVR devices, and 8-bit AVR microcontrollers with OCD support via JTAG or debugWIRE.
Host connection and power
The unit features a USB 2.0 compliant interface running in high-speed or full-speed modes using standard HID communication without requiring special host drivers. It is USB bus-powered, drawing less than 100mA, and automatically switches to a low-power mode when idle.
System requirements
Operation requires a host computer with Atmel Studio version 6.2 or later installed. The unit connects to an available USB port using the included 1.8m Micro-B USB cable or a certified equivalent.
What is included in the kit
This basic kit contains the main Atmel-ICE unit, a 1.8m high-speed Micro-B USB cable, and a DC flat cable equipped with both a 10-pin 50-mil connector and a 6-pin 100-mil connector.
