Description
This L293D motor driver shield is a versatile expansion board designed to control DC motors, stepper motors, and servos from your development board. It delivers multi-motor driving capability with integrated thermal protection, making it ideal for students, robotics hobbyists, and classroom STEM projects.
Multi-motor drive capabilities
The shield features 4 H-bridges delivering 0.6A per bridge (1.2A peak) to run motors from 4.5V to 36V DC. It can drive up to 4 bi-directional DC motors with individual 8-bit speed selection, up to 2 unipolar or bipolar stepper motors, or 2 servos.
Dedicated servo and control interfaces
Two dedicated 5V servo interfaces connect directly to high-resolution hardware timers to ensure jitter-free motion. Stepper motors support single coil, double coil, and interleaved stepping modes.
Power management and safety
Built-in pull-down resistors keep connected motors safely disabled during system power-up. Two external screw-terminal power interfaces allow you to separate logic and motor power supplies, while an onboard reset button provides easy system restarts.
Board compatibility
The shield is tested and compatible with Arduino Mega, Diecimila, and Duemilanove boards.
