Description

The Keyestudio Touch Key USB Shield is an expansion board designed to turn Arduino UNO R3 and Mega 2560 microcontrollers into touch-sensitive input devices. It is ideal for students, educators, and hobbyists looking to recreate classic MaKey MaKey projects by turning everyday conductive objects into computer keys.

Turn everyday objects into inputs

This shield allows you to transform ordinary items like bananas, plasticine, or even stairways into computer input devices. By simulating a standard USB keyboard, it lets you create unique interactive installations, custom joysticks, or musical synthesisers.

Body-resistance touch detection

The board utilises a double-contact switch design, connecting a touch port and ground to two electrodes. When a user touches both electrodes, their natural body resistance allows a tiny, safe current to flow, which the shield detects as a keypress.

Broad compatibility and driver-free setup

Designed to fit seamlessly onto Arduino UNO R3 and MEGA 2560 control boards, this shield offers a hassle-free setup. It features driver-free automatic identification on Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems.

Six programmable touch buttons

Operating at a standard DC 5V, the shield can identify up to six individual touch buttons at a time. You can easily configure the specific keyboard outputs for each of these six buttons directly within your Arduino code.

Onboard anti-reverse interfaces

To help expand your projects, the development board includes two onboard anti-reverse interfaces. These ports allow you to safely connect additional external devices and sensors without the risk of reverse-polarity damage.
