Description
The Keyestudio TCS3200 Colour Recognition Sensor Detector Module is a programmable light-to-frequency converter designed to detect and analyse reflected colours. It is an ideal tool for South African students, educators, and makers looking to integrate colour-sensing capabilities into their Arduino projects. With its built-in white LEDs and simple microcontroller interface, it simplifies colour sorting and light analysis.
Programmable light to frequency conversion
The module utilises the TCS3200 programmable colour light-to-frequency converter to accurately measure primary colours. It is suitable for diverse applications including colourimeter measurements, medical diagnostics, PC monitor calibration, and industrial process control.

Three primary colour filtering
The sensor operates by using selectable filters to isolate red, green, and blue light. By allowing only one primary colour to pass through at a time, the module determines the individual intensity of each colour to recognise the overall reflected shade.

Direct microcontroller integration
Operating on an input voltage of DC 3V to 5V, this module outputs a frequency voltage of 0V to 5V. It can be connected directly to an Arduino or other microcontrollers without needing complex interface circuitry.

TCS230 sensor chip architecture
Built around the TCS230 chip, the module provides a reliable platform for static colour detection. Users can access the Arduino software WIKI page tutorial to quickly set up and calibrate their projects.

Integrated illumination and optimal range
The board features high-brightness white LEDs to illuminate target objects for consistent static colour detection. For the most accurate readings, the recommended measurement distance between the sensor and the object is 10mm.
