Description
The Keyestudio EASY plug GP2Y1014AU PM2.5 Dust Sensor Module is an optical air quality sensor designed to detect very fine airborne particles like smoke and dust. It is ideal for South African students, makers, and hobbyists building DIY air purifiers or environmental monitoring systems. With its plug-and-play RJ11 connector, it integrates seamlessly into educational projects without complex wiring.
Optical dust detection technology
The module uses a diagonally arranged infrared light-emitting diode and a phototransistor to detect light reflected by dust particles in the air. This design makes it particularly effective at sensing extremely fine particles, such as cigarette smoke, down to a minimum size of 0.8 microns.

Proportional analogue voltage output
The sensor outputs an analogue voltage that is directly proportional to the measured dust concentration. It features a sensitivity of 0.5V per 0.1mg/m3, with a typical output voltage of 0.9V in clean air.

Low current consumption
Operating on a supply voltage of 5V to 7V DC, this sensor is highly energy-efficient for continuous monitoring. It has a maximum current consumption of just 20mA, with a typical draw of 11mA.

Solderless RJ11 connection
The sensor's four pins are routed to a standard Registered Jack (RJ11) interface. This allows you to connect it directly to an EASY plug Control Board V2.0 using a single RJ11 cable, eliminating wiring errors.

Compact and lightweight design
Measuring just 35.6mm by 69.7mm by 28mm and weighing only 27g, this compact module is easy to mount. It is an excellent choice for portable air quality monitors and smart home integrations.

Robust environmental tolerances
Built for reliable long-term monitoring, the sensor has an expected service life of five years. It operates reliably in temperatures ranging from -10 to +65 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for diverse climates.
