Description

The Keyestudio micro bit honeycomb TCS34725 Color Sensor Module is a high-performance, low-cost RGB colour recogniser designed for students, educators, and makers. It uses optical sensing to identify the surface colours of objects, making it perfect for sorting projects, smart lighting, and robotics. With its easy-to-connect honeycomb design, it integrates seamlessly into your micro:bit projects.

Accurate optical colour recognition

The module features an integrated colour-sensitive photodiode sheet and a localising infrared shading filter. This design minimises infrared spectrum components in incident light, ensuring highly accurate colour management even under changing light conditions.

High sensitivity and dynamic range

Thanks to its wide dynamic range and built-in filter, the TCS34725 sensor performs reliably when detecting surface colours through attenuating materials. It responds to bright light and outputs specific values to restore real colours.

Power and electrical specifications

Operating at a working voltage of 5V with a current of 100mA, the module has a maximum power consumption of 0.5W. It operates reliably within a temperature range of -10°C to +50°C.

Detection range and I2C interface

The sensor detects colours at a close range of 3mm to 10mm. It communicates via an I2C interface with an address of 0x29, supporting a clock frequency of 0 to 400kHz over a 2.54mm pitch connection.

Broad application potential

This versatile sensor is suitable for projects involving RGB LED backlight control, solid-state lighting, industrial process control, and medical diagnostic equipment. It is an ideal component for advanced hobbyists and students exploring optical sensing.
