Description

The Keyestudio CNC Kit is a complete control package designed for South African makers, educators, and hobbyists building DIY CNC routers or engraving machines. This kit combines an R3 board, a CNC Shield V3, and four A4988 stepper drivers to provide precise motor control. It is an ideal starting point for students learning about digital fabrication and G-code commands.

Open-source GRBL firmware compatibility

The kit is fully compatible with GRBL 0.8c, an open-source firmware that runs on the included microcontroller board. This software translates standard G-code commands into precise stepper motor signals for seamless machine operation.

Full three-axis motion support

With support for X, Y, and Z axes, this shield handles complete three-axis movement. It includes connections for two end stops per axis, allowing you to connect up to six limit switches in total for safe operation.

Removable stepper driver support

The shield features sockets for removable stepper drivers and comes supplied with four A4988 drivers. It also supports other compatible drivers like the DRV8825, making replacements and upgrades straightforward.

Adjustable micro-stepping control

Onboard jumpers allow you to easily configure the micro-stepping settings for your stepper drivers. When using alternative drivers like the DRV8825, you can achieve up to 1/32 micro-stepping for highly detailed positioning.

Spindle and coolant management

The board includes dedicated control pins for spindle enable and direction, as well as coolant enable. This lets you automate your cutting tool and cooling systems directly through your G-code instructions.

Flexible stepper motor connections

For easy wiring, stepper motors can be plugged in using standard 4-pin Molex connectors. Alternatively, you can solder the motor connections directly to the board for a permanent, secure installation.
