Simple step and direction control
The driver features an easy-to-use interface where a single pulse on the step input drives the motor to produce a micro-step. This eliminates the need for complex interface programming, high-frequency control lines, or phase sequence tables.

Five versatile stepping modes
To ensure smooth and precise motion control, the driver supports full, half, quarter, eighth, and sixteenth-step modes. You can easily configure these microstepping modes to match the requirements of your specific bipolar stepper motor.

Robust power handling and performance
Built on the DMOS A4988 microstep driver, this module can operate bipolar stepper motors with an output drive performance of up to 35 V and ±2 A. The included heatsink helps dissipate heat during high-current operations.

Adjustable current output
An on-board adjustable potentiometer allows you to manually tune the maximum current output. Optimising the current output helps prevent motor damage while enabling higher step rates for your projects.

Comprehensive circuit protection
Your control hardware is safeguarded by built-in thermal shutdown circuitry, undervoltage lockout, and cross-current protection. It also features ground short-circuit and load short-circuit protection to prevent accidental damage.

Automatic current decay detection
The A4988 includes a fixed turn-off time current regulator that automatically detects and selects slow or mixed decay modes. This ensures efficient current control and quieter motor operation without manual intervention.
