Description
The IOIO-OTG is a versatile development board designed to bridge Java applications on Android devices or computers with physical computing hardware. Featuring an onboard PIC microcontroller and USB On-The-Go connectivity, it allows developers to interact with low-level electronics directly through software libraries. It is an ideal platform for students, software developers, and makers creating interactive hardware and robotics projects.
Seamless Java hardware interfacing
The onboard PIC microcontroller functions as a bridge connecting PC or Android applications directly to peripherals such as GPIO, PWM, ADC, I2C, SPI, and UART. App-level libraries allow developers to write hardware control routines in the same style as standard Java code.
Flexible USB-OTG and wireless connectivity
With USB On-The-Go dual-role capabilities, the board acts as a USB host for Android devices while providing charging current, or operates in device mode as a virtual serial port for Windows, Linux, and macOS systems. It can also support wireless serial communication when used with an optional USB Bluetooth dongle.
Power management and extensive I/O
The board accepts input voltages from 5V to 15V via external power or USB, features a JST connector for LiPo batteries, and provides regulated outputs of 5V (up to 3A) and 3.3V (up to 500mA). It delivers 46 digital I/O pins, 16 analogue inputs, 9 PWM channels, 4 UART interfaces, 3 TWI/I2C interfaces, and 6 pulse inputs.
Package contents
The package includes one IOIO-OTG development board and one USB female-A to micro-A cable.
