Description
This ESP8285 wireless WiFi transceiver module combines onboard infrared transmission and reception for smart remote control projects. Powered by an ESP-01M core, it shares the familiar programming environment of the ESP8266. It is ideal for students, makers, and hobbyists developing custom wireless automation and home entertainment controllers.
Infrared transmission and reception
The module features an onboard infrared receiving tube controlled via IO14 and an infrared transmitting tube driven via IO4. This allows the unit to both read incoming signals from existing remotes and broadcast custom commands over WiFi.
ESP8285 processing core
Using an integrated ESP-01M core, the module operates with the same programming code structure as the ESP8266. It features dedicated breakout pins for serial communication and flashing firmware using standard USB to UART converters.
Connection and programming details
Firmware flashing requires shorting IO0 to GND before applying power, then uploading code through 5V, GND, RX, and TX lines. Please verify power polarities before connecting, as the board does not feature reverse polarity protection.
