Description
The EasyDriver A3967 is a bipolar stepper motor driver board designed for smooth, precise motion control in DIY robotics and automation builds. It converts simple step and direction pulses into microstepping drive signals, allowing microcontrollers to drive two-phase stepper motors with minimal pin overhead. This module is ideal for makers, students, and hobbyists building precision positioning systems and robotics projects.
Microstepping precision
The onboard A3967SLB driver chip offers 8-segment microstepping subdivision, breaking each standard 1.8-degree full step into 8 microsteps. This enables a standard 200-step motor to achieve 1600 steps per full 360-degree revolution for smoother rotation and accurate positioning.
Simplified microcontroller control
The EasyDriver interface reduces complex multi-line motor control down to just two primary digital inputs: Step and Direction. Digital pulse inputs support either 0 to 5V or 0 to 3.3V logic levels selectable via jumper.
Integrated motor drive and protection
Operating across an input supply range of 7V to 20V with a drive current rating of 750mA, the driver features PWM constant current control with configurable slow, fast, and mixed current-decay modes. Built-in protection includes transient voltage suppression, thermal overheat protection, and under-voltage lockout.
Pin functions and interfacing
Key connections include MS1 and MS2 for microstep resolution selection, Step for pulse input, Dir for rotation direction, Reset, and Enable. Motor coils connect directly to the dual H-bridge output terminals labelled OUT1A, OUT1B, OUT2A, and OUT2B.
