Description
The DS1302 real-time clock module provides accurate timekeeping and calendar functions for microcontroller projects, maintaining seconds, minutes, hours, and calendar dates up to the year 2100. It is an ideal addition to science kits, school robotics, and hobbyist electronics projects that require reliable scheduling or timestamping.
Accurate calendar and timekeeping
The onboard Dallas DS1302 IC tracks seconds, minutes, hours, day of the week, day of the month, month, and year with automatic leap-year compensation. It supports both 12-hour and 24-hour display formats with AM/PM indication, and includes 31 bytes of temporary static RAM for basic data storage.
Simple 3-wire interface
Communication with your microcontroller uses a minimal three-wire synchronous serial interface consisting of Reset (RST), Data (DAT), and Serial Clock (CLK) pins. The module is fully compatible with both 3.3V and 5V logic levels, allowing quick integration with a wide variety of single-chip microcomputers.
Low-power backup support
Designed for ultra-low power consumption of under 1mW during active operation and less than 300nA at 2.0V, the board features dual power circuitry. It accepts a standard CR2032 3V coin cell battery (not included) to maintain accurate time and RAM data for over 10 years during main power loss.
Compact hardware design
The module includes a 32.768kHz crystal oscillator and a socketed 8-pin DIP chip for easy IC replacement. Four 3.1mm corner mounting holes allow for secure mechanical fastening inside project enclosures and robot chassis.
