Description
The ADS1115 16-bit ADC module provides high-precision analogue-to-digital conversion for microcontroller projects requiring accurate sensor readings. Operating over I2C with a wide supply range of 2.0V to 5.5V, it features an onboard programmable gain amplifier and configurable sampling rates. It is an ideal addition for students, makers, and educators measuring small signals, monitoring batteries, or expanding analogue inputs.
High-resolution analogue conversion
The module provides 16-bit resolution across either four single-ended analogue inputs or two differential inputs. It features an onboard low-drift voltage reference, an internal oscillator, and a programmable gain amplifier offering input ranges from the supply voltage down to +/-0.256V for measuring small and large signals.
Flexible power and sampling modes
Operating from 2.0V to 5.5V, the ADS1115 supports programmable data rates from 8 SPS up to 860 SPS. It operates in continuous conversion mode drawing 150 microamps or in single-shot mode with automatic power-down to minimise current consumption during idle periods.
I2C interface and address selection
Communication is handled over an I2C-compatible serial interface with pin-selectable 7-bit addresses between 0x48 and 0x4B. This allows multiple converter boards to share the same bus without address collisions.
Typical applications
This converter is suited for battery monitoring, portable instrumentation, temperature measurement, consumer goods, and factory automation process controls.
Package contents
The package includes one ADS1115 I2C ADC module with pin headers.
