The EdTech Quality Collaborative, a coalition of six education-focused organizations including 1EdTech, CAST, and CoSN, has launched a new evaluation and purchasing guide for K–12 technology. The tool addresses "tech sprawl"—a systemic issue where the average school district accesses nearly 3,000 distinct educational technology products annually without a standardized framework to measure their utility.

This new guide establishes the first K–12-specific framework designed to bridge the gap between procurement decisions and actual classroom application. Historically, the lack of structured evaluation has led to a disconnect between administrative purchasing and teacher usage, resulting in low adoption rates and wasted educational funding.
